Organisational Value – On the Topic of Diversity

In large organisations, one of the most common HR objectives is to facilitate the diversification of skills and personalities. We know this has an extreme power because the more diverse an organisation is:

  • The more perspectives and ideas you can generate on a single topic
  • The more differring individuals you have, the greater you can challenge each idea in its entirety before exploring them
  • The differing skillsets available means your service can be very flexible to unpredictable variables
  • The different skillsets available means you can offer more services to the market and really pick and choose the work you want to do
  • Diversity creates the opportunity to package products/services in a different mix every single time purely because you have so many ingredients to choose from.
  • Diversity means you can connect to a greater number of personalities out there which you otherwise would find difficult to….

and the list goes on and on my friends…

And its all good to be on the high with diversity but here is the thing. On the hierarchy of organisational needs, there is a mammoth rule that all must follow…Organisational Values Precede The Need for Diversity.

I’ll repeat that…Organisation Values Precede The Need for Diversity. In a world where globalisation naturally manifests diversification, then More >

Solution to War

As I sit in this very room of mine, I am contented with the gifts of my birth and life. I have shelter, food that exceeds what I would call simplicity, a loving family and a country which offers me enough opportunity for prosperity.

Meanwhile, there are places on this planet where immense fear and risk exists in the lives of people every single day. For example, the middle east, where war has scarred their beautiful terrains for many, many years. Bombs, missiles, grenades, fire arms all sourced from the mining industry and funded by different countries who have some form of political interest in the place….how, bloody childish.

War is dumb, if you rationalise the reason for it then you may as well self-annihilate your existence through your contradiction/hypocrisy. Everyone is fighting for a sense of peace by inflicting a sense of pain on another. People like me, who believe that there is otherwise another way are then labelled idealists and branded with a smelly connotation that we are phillistines for considering the such, as possible. So heres the solution…

1. Let them play with their weapons

2. Load each explosive with Marijuana (Pot)

3. Let them blow

4. Watch them chill out and realise what More >

Escaping from Reality – The Illusion of the Travel Bug

I’m very strong on this topic whether you agree or disagree. However, as you read this you will be opened to a new realisation or perception of your personal inner desire to travel.

As we grow up, we are taken by the externalities of what this world has to offer us, from

  • the Pyramids of Egypt, to
  • the Parties in South America,
  • the sophistication and romance of Europe, and
  • the liberating oxygen of the USA

The list goes on and is vast as range of lonely planet books available for your purchase =p.

During the 20’s of one’s life-cycle, a large number of individuals venture to another country in search of a greater sense of satisfaction. The conduit for this is also likely provided from their profession. However it is not uncommon that these individuals arrive home years later after their travel to realise that it was never the act of being somewhere different that created satisfcation. They realise, that working in the office looking out the window with a different view was never really in essence any different.

Satisfaction lies within. Comfort in your own skin will yield’s satisfaction. If you’re not comfortable within your own shell, then how can you be comfortable anywhere in this world? More >
